Minutes of Okehampton Town Council Planning Committee Meeting held on Monday 29 June 2009 in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Fore Street, Okehampton at 7.00 pmCommittee Members Present:

102. Apologies for Absence - Apologies for absence were presented on behalf of Councillors C Hodgson and H A Pirwany.
103. Deferment of Business - (for comment by the public) - There were no questions from the public.
104. Members’ Questions - Councillor Mrs Marsh referred to the application for Lewis Court and advised that it had not been called in for scrutiny by the Borough due to time factors. Members agreed that any future applications called in be supported with a full report stating this Council’s observations.
Councillor Mrs Marsh referred to partial development of a plot of land in Mill Road and questioned Borough Council enforcement action; Town Clerk to research. She then referred to a strip of land by Broad Park on the Giblands Estate and questioned conversion of this into grassed open recreation area, Borough to be questioned.
105. Minutes - The minutes of the meeting held on 15 June 2009 were approved and signed by the Chairman on the proposition of Councillor M Ireland, seconded by Councillor D Weekes.
106. Matters Arising -
106.1 Proposed Development - Link Road Covenant - The Clerk reported no response had been received from the County Council Chief Executive.
106.2 Highway Problems in Okehampton - A response from the Area North Highway Management Engineer offered the following comments.
a) Lodge Hill to Beans Meadow - further researches to be undertaken.
b) Exeter Road/Barton Road traffic signals - the County to consider installing a yellow box, subject to the success of improvements to the town centre traffic light system.
c) Limehayes Road traffic speeds - police to be consulted on speed and road safety issues at this area.
Members noted further reports were awaited.

Tree application
Application to carry out works under tree preservation order for the removal of low branches and crossing branches from an oak.

The Town Council supported this proposal.
108. Members’ Reports -
Station Road: Traffic Survey - Councillor Mrs Marsh advised that there was not a speeding issue in this road due to difficulties created by parking, however parking lines were to be extended to allow improved access into entries for houses and create additional passing spaces; noted.
