Minutes of a Meeting of the Okehampton Town Council Property Committee held on Monday 21 November 2011 in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, Okehampton at 7.00 pm

323.     Apologies for Absence - An apology for absence was presented on behalf of Councillor Mrs Marsh.

324.     Deferment of Business - (for comment by the public) - There were no members of the public present.

325.     Members’ Questions - There were no questions from Members regarding the workings of the Committee.

326.     Minutes - The minutes of the Property Committee meeting held on 10 October 2011 were approved and signed by the Chair on the proposition of Councillor M Davies, seconded by Councillor T Cummings.

327.     Matters Arising -

327.1   Solar Energy/Energy Civic Buildings - The Chairman referred to his report submitted to Council on 7 November 2011 and advised planning permission was awaited.  On the receipt of this, a report relating to the installation of these panels, costs and benefits would be submitted to the Committee.

327.2   Electrical Testing - The Clerk advised the report following the electrical installation test identified a series of works in categories of urgent to recommended.  There were no urgent works, but a number of recommendations which had to be worked into a specification for tender process and he suggested due budget provision be made for the financial year 2012/13 for the works to be carried out at that time; on the proposition of the Chairman it was resolved a sum of £2,000 be included in the budget for this work.

327.3   Lower Market Hall Toilets - The Chair reported these works were complete subject to minor snagging problems.

328.     Members’ Reports -

(i)         Chamber of Trade - no report.

(ii)        Town Twinning Association - Councillor Vachon referred to a number of social events held, referenced a newsletter relating to the possibility of twinning with a town in Finland and invited Members to future exchange weekends.  It was agreed the newsletter be affixed to the Council’s notice board and the website.

(iii)       Simmons Homes Charity - no report.

(iv)       Charities of Holditch - Councillor Mrs McDonald reported this charity had awarded 17 grants of approximately £90 each and commented that grants were still available for other applicants who should apply to her or Councillor Mrs Marsh.

(v)        Museum of Dartmoor Life - no report.

(vi)       Battle of the Bands - no report.

The Chair advised that both of these organisations were without representation from the Council and it was agreed to appoint at Council.
